Underwater Photographer of the Year 2020

I had to keep a secret for 6 weeks. It was the hardest thing to do for me in 2020.

It is past midnight over here and the awards ceremony has finished in the UK. I can finally share the news….. …. Underwater Photographer of the Year 2020, category winner for Black & White!

Winning this award means a lot to me, not least because the UPY is one of the most prestigious awards for underwater photography. This image is part of a series of photographs I have secretly been working on for a year. It is very personal to me because it represents two of the things that I hold dearest to my life.

I’m also very proud that this image has been chosen to be the cover for UPY 2020 yearbook. A big thank you to the team at UPY and congratulations to all the winners in this amazing edition.
