Awards in February
The month of February was a time of celebrations with Chinese New Year, weddings, anniversaries and me reaching a personal milestone. It was also a time when several photography competition results were announced. First, a shout-out of congratulations to Shane Gross for winning the OWU grand prize. Well done buddy!
It was announced at the 2017 International Photographer of the Year competition that my series of humpback pictures in monochrome came in first place in the Nature: Wildlife category.
The Sony World Photography Awards is amongst the world’s most renowned competitions. Results were announced yesterday. I’m thrilled that my split-shot of a silky shark taken in Cuba was commended in the Wildlife category of the Open Competition. Hopefully, the image will be exhibited at the Sony WPA Exhibition in London.
Just when I thought that it was enough excitement for the month, Nature Photographic Society Singapore named me, Singapore Nature Photographer of the Year. It is with great honour to receive this award. Award ceremony will be held at the end of the month, so watch this space!
